International conference in Düsseldorf
Meeting of eight European Kennel Clubs
The leaders of the Kennel Clubs from Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden came together in Düsseldorf for their regular meeting.
Since 2022, the kennel clubs have met twice a year. The focus is on the current situation and plans. This time, the focus was on political developments with regard to animal welfare regulations in the individual countries and the corresponding initiatives to further improve the health of dogs. Among other things, current cross-breeding projects were presented.
During the presentation of the activity reports, the decline in puppy numbers and rising veterinary costs were discussed in particular. There was an intensive exchange on the strategies of the kennel clubs to meet these challenges. Other topics included judge training, digitalization of services, data exchange for the registration of foreign dogs and the work of the FCI and the FCI European Section.
The next meeting of the group of eight FCI associations will take place in Paris in February 2025.
